This spinoff is more Game of Thrones than Dune
Despite that, Dune: The Prophecy is everything I expected it to be and more. It’s a great addition to a beloved film franchise. Let me start by saying that I’ve never read the source material or seen the original film.
I love both of them, so I had high hopes for this series
My experience with Dune is based on the two Dune movies that have come out in recent years, starring Timothée Chalamet and Zendaya. Those two movies (especially Dune: Part II) are two of my favorite movies I’ve seen in years. Dune: Prophecy is a series that takes place 10,000 years before the start of the Dune movies, and how the Harkonnen sisters started the Bene Gesserit to fight against forces that threaten the future of humanity.
The series may be more Game of Thrones than Dune, but it’s still a lot of fun
The most important thing about this show is that it does exactly what it set out to do, which is deepen your understanding of the Bene Gesserit. You don’t have to watch both Dune films to enjoy it, but you’ll definitely enjoy it more if you want to.
